The Doctors Are In

Earlier this month, Sean and Laura graduated from UIC College of Medicine. They only wanted their favorite triplet to attend, so Anna flew home to Chicago by herself for a four-day weekend.

Ahh, how nice it is to ride an aboveground train. With Chicago River views, no less!IMG_3237

Then back to 1305 for pilates with Mama and relaxing on the front porch.

And a classic deep-dish pizza from Carmen’s. Also, a plank contest between Sean and Anna, where Sean won due to not doing proper form and sticking his booty in the air.

The next morning, it was on to UIC for the graduation. And yes, the program got Sean’s ND graduation date wrong by about 8 years.

Later that night, a classic mama summer dish of pasta with scallops and sun-dried tomatos.

Everything was delicious. I don’t have a picture of the full spread, but it involved lots of homemade pulled pork, kale salad, deviled eggs, mac and cheese, and many other tasty dishes. Laura really outdid herself.

Sunday was Mother’s Day, so we celebrated with a breakfast of Ann Sather’s famous cinnamon rolls. photo 2

And cozying on the 5Before flying back to NYC. Bye Chicago! Thanks for the invite, Laura and Sean!
